Wed Sep 09 20:28:13 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   most ddos is pipe exhaustion not cpu exhaustion.

Wed Sep 09 20:27:29 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   wait, you wanted cpu-based ddos ?

Wed Sep 09 20:26:31 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   jurov consider the experimentally verified, and publicly at that, fact that ddos couldn't do any appreciabvle harm to qntra, or trilema.

Wed Sep 09 20:25:07 UTC 2015  <ascii_field>   trinque, jurov: if device which silently drops unsigned (or signed by unblessed) packets straight on the floor were mass-produced and inexpensive, ddos as a thing ends.

Wed Sep 09 20:22:22 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   ddos only works a) briefly and b) on large targets.

Sun Sep 06 22:04:36 UTC 2015  <punkman>   mircea_popescu: sure, but can't sysadmin the box it lives on (and don't want to fight ddos other than making application cache better and whatnot)

Thu Sep 03 21:24:39 UTC 2015  <kakobrekla>   My nodes got hit with 25 GBit/sec. The university firewall handled it like a pro, but I was forced to shut off my nodes. Due to the security implications (I guess DDoS attacks are a security risk now?) I'll have to fight to get them back up again.

Wed Sep 02 12:29:35 UTC 2015  <davout>   they apparently want to admit that "my crowd is behind the XT DDoS"

Mon Aug 31 21:48:23 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   dbus needs network connectivity to maintain a list of ddos ips.

Sun Aug 30 18:32:03 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   for extra clarity: 'ddos sources' as in senders of the packets, or what is meant is 'ddos holes' ?

Sun Aug 30 18:30:01 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   the ddos sources don't simply exist, like rocks. they were put there, like roads.

Sun Aug 30 18:29:33 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   mircea_popescu: what in this case is 'coopted' ? even a tree stump can see that the buggers love to ddos

Sun Aug 30 18:02:05 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=30-08-2015#1256545 << "ddos protection" being used so liberally to mask specifically nsa-ian idiocy strengthens my suspicion that "ddos" does not merely exist, but is in fact a coopted technologee. which is why fucking automattic ACTUASLLY PUTS IT IN DELIBERATELY.
