Mon Jun 15 19:30:58 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   question: does it matter what email provider I use for GPG setup? I tried to set it up with Tutanota but cannot set it up with thunderbird and enigmail which i suspected but wasn't sure until I tried... I shudder to maintain any connection to google or yahoo, but does it matter with GPG?

Mon Jun 15 19:39:33 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   ok ty mircea_popescu I am pretty confused... I have been following contravex guide - so is that preparing me to run locally? Or is utilizing enigmail through thunderbird attached to a gmail account no longer local? And is it just more secure to use plaintext over html? So much to learn...

Mon Jun 15 19:44:45 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   ok, thanks for the help guys, and please forgive the derpage, but I suppose this means do not use something like the enigmail add-on?

Mon Jun 15 19:48:04 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   So I got a raspberry pi and am hoping that noodling around with this device will correct some of these fundamental misunderstanding I have...

Mon Jun 15 19:50:59 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   Trinque, well some basic programming would be a good place to start I think... a more fundamental understanding of the history of the cypherpunk movement, encrytion fundamentals, etc, anything that will allow me to be something more than a slave

Wed Jun 17 01:35:01 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   how's it going?

Wed Jun 17 01:39:25 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   trinque: yeah I am thinking since I was told yesterday that doing it right means local and plaintext then it doesnt really matter that it is linked to something that can operate with thunderbird and enigmail... I can simply keep it linked to my tutanota account... this makes sense to me but I don't know shit about this stuff...

Wed Jun 17 01:40:32 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   I am coinfused as to how the "keys" work though... is my "fingerprint" my public key?

Wed Jun 17 01:43:16 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   BingoBoingo: yes but if I am encrypting plaintext then I am just attaching the file... tutanota, which I set it up with, provides their own encryption, so it isnt pop3 or imap... I think... they told me they cant do that since they are encrypted

Wed Jun 17 01:45:20 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   tinque: ok, so this is what will be public? and then how do I decrypt?

Wed Jun 17 01:47:46 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   trinque: maybe I'll be back in a year if I get a clue haha

Wed Jun 17 01:50:14 UTC 2015  <ag3nt_zer0>   trinque: ok sounds good... maybe I am looking at the "keys" wrong... since pgp is called the bitcoin-standard in encrypted communications, I just assumed it would have a public key/private key situation similar to BTC and that this would be how to encrypt and decrypt
