Sun Aug 09 03:50:05 UTC 2015  <mod6>   was nice to see rotor build cleanly today btw.

Sun Aug 09 03:49:07 UTC 2015  <mod6>   once we have that, and a new patch from trinque, i can complete my script and have a rotor that builds these test bundles with x86-64

Sun Aug 09 03:48:29 UTC 2015  <mod6>   ok. that's my next basic goal. build a patched bundle up through verify-all with rotor.

Sun Aug 09 03:46:20 UTC 2015  <mod6>   was thinking that next I'll work on a patched bundle up through -verify all with rotor. and then work ourselves up to a place where we feel comfortable.

Sun Aug 09 03:45:08 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   my rotor bundle doesn't come with a stator at all

Sun Aug 09 03:44:19 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   (rotor takes a stator)

Sun Aug 09 03:43:52 UTC 2015  <mod6>   asciilifeform: so, what my goal is, short term, is to produce a bundle that (similar to TEST2) is patched up through -verifyall that we can drop into the rotor, and use that for testing next.

Sun Aug 09 03:36:59 UTC 2015  <mod6>   pete_dushenski: don't bother with the testing for TEST2 (or anyone else), just work for now on building rotor.

Sun Aug 09 03:34:00 UTC 2015  <mod6>   Right, should be trying to bulid the Rotor, really.

Sun Aug 09 03:33:43 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   neither stator nor rotor needs these!

Sun Aug 09 03:21:57 UTC 2015  <pete_dushenski>   asciilifeform: i know you wrote rotor for a reason, of this there is little doubt, but believe it or not, your instructions aren't dumbed down enough for me

Sun Aug 09 03:20:09 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   rotor differs in that it is enough for you to find ~one~ box where it can be made to go

Sun Aug 09 03:18:25 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   pete_dushenski: i wrote rotor for a reason

Sun Aug 09 02:42:01 UTC 2015  <assbot>   Logged on 08-08-2015 19:37:33; mod6: asciilifeform, mircea_popescu, ben_vulpes: rotor built successfully.

Sat Aug 08 19:42:48 UTC 2015  <mod6>   trinque: would you be opposed to resubmitting your patch for the rotor to the ML as a attachment with a detached sig? I have a list of concise steps that is basically a simple script to do all of the steps to build rotor/static-deterministic-stator just need to get that piece into place. that's the only manual step at this point.

Sat Aug 08 19:37:33 UTC 2015  <mod6>   asciilifeform, mircea_popescu, ben_vulpes: rotor built successfully.

Sat Aug 08 18:32:28 UTC 2015  <trinque>   mod6 | The whole 'we need to get to a sane environment -- let's use Gentoo' idea was pre-dated the rotor. Now I just gotta get rotor to work for me :] << for sure; my current efforts are directed at the problem of n00bs showing up, asking for a gentleman's computer, and getting five hundred contradictory answers on how to set it up

Sat Aug 08 15:56:14 UTC 2015  <asciilifeform>   even if using 'rotor', you still gotta live in that linux.

Sat Aug 08 15:55:40 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   but otherwise the point is correct, the gentoo choice predated the rotor and proibably was made obsolete by it

Sat Aug 08 15:55:16 UTC 2015  <mircea_popescu>   <mod6> Sure thing. Agree 100%, but since 'rotor' can run on any "sane" linux (to quote ascii), we don't have to marry ourselves to Gentoo << not clear there exist any sane linuxen ; not clear that if we don't marry to something there'll be anything left next year. that sorta thing.
